As one of the biggest societies on campus, Kent Dance offers something for everyone to get involved with. From Hip-Hop to Irish, Ballet to Bollywood, joining our society is a great way to meet new people whilst doing something you love, or learning something new! We have classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced abilities, so whatever your previous experience, come and join the fun!
We are currently organising our new timetable for next term, competition auditions and dates as well as the Gulbenkian show next year.. so watch this space!
We will have a stall in the Freshers Fayre on Thursday where you can find information on our socials, classes, competitions, shows, receive a free information pack with Kent Dance freebies and buy our new 'I <3 Kent Dance' T-shirts!
We will also be running a welcome meeting in the first week of term so watch out for the event which will be on facebook.
If you are a fresher, have a lot of dance experience and would like to get involved with teaching and choreography this year then please email email@example.com with some information on your background. We are always looking for new talented choreographers and teachers. However, as first years you have a whole year to settle in to our fantastic society before deciding to take a bigger role so don't worry.
In our second term we put on a fantastic sell out show in the Gulbenkian theatre on campus. Each year dancers pitch their choreography to the society and you get to pick what dances you want to be in!
Last year, for the first time ever we performed on two dates and the show was a great success so there are many ways in which you can become even more involved in dance if you were a passionate dancer before University.
However, if that's not your thing we run many fun beginner classes and even a zumba fitness class if you have little dance experience.
Our other wonderful achievements last year include:
-Our brilliant Irish dancers competing and winning World Fest 2012
-Our Kent dance team won Kent vs. Christchurch Dance Varsity
-We won 2nd, 3rd and 3rd at Essex Dance Competition
